New Eltham & Blackfen Medical Centres ensure that all members of staff have access to guidance regarding consent for examination and treatment.
This policy has been produced as a result of Department of Health’s published guidance and has been customised to suit the procedures carried out within this Practice. This policy also sets out the standards and procedures, which aim to ensure that health professionals are able to comply with the guidance.
Patients have a fundamental legal and ethical right to determine what happens to their own bodies. Valid consent to treatment is therefore absolutely central in all forms of healthcare, from providing personal care to undertaking minor surgery.
